Crane Refurbishment

One of our highly valued customers reached out to us about refurbishing one of their cranes from the 1970's with mostly original parts. Above you can see all the before and after pictures of our work. We did a complete overhaul of its electrical systems, including upgrading the bridge to VFD control, replacing the outdated festoon system (brackets and cable), upgrading the lighting fixtures to new LED bulbs, designing and installing brand new control panels for the bridge and trolley/hoist. As you can see the panels bear no resemblance to their former state and the crane is now operating at peak performance levels, surpassing any previous standards.

Control's Package, Assembly, Testing and Commissioning

Happy to showcase our abilities to go above and beyond just the daily overhead crane service. Displayed above are three brand new cranes that we supplied control panels for, wired from start to finish and fully commissioned. Throughout this project we worked closely with the manufacturer to ensure that the installation would go smoothly and efficiently. Many overhead crane builders rely on kits for wiring their new products, we offer an alternative solution where we fully design and install the electrical system, offer more cost-effective solutions and the end product is far superior in aesthetics and performance. Bridge Retrofit new motor.jpg

Retrofitted Bridge Motors

We received a call regarding a bridge motor issue at a customer's site. We were promptly able to identify the issue as a failed gearbox. Attempting to get the OEM gearbox, we faced an eight week lead-time and significant cost. Realizing this would be an unacceptable amount of downtime for the customer's crucial production from this crane we quickly got to work providing an alternative solution, skillfully retrofitting two new custom bridge motors and shafts to the crane. Additionally upgrading the cranes electrics to include VFD control of the bridge to reduce overall wear on the motors. All of this was done for a lower cost then just a single gearbox from the original European manufacturer, and was completed within seven business days from identifying the issue to returning the crane to service in better condition than ever before.

Major Bridge Wheel Repair

Enlightened Material Handling is very proud to share the details of this major service repair. One of our customers reached out to us stating that their overhead crane was making an extremely loud noise whenever the bridge moved. We quickly discovered that there was a broken wheel drive shaft at one of the motors. The extended use of the bridge in this condition had completely worn out the the axel causing significant damage to the end truck. We quickly got to work pressing out the damaged axel and disassembling all components attached to the motor. We then custom-fitted two new bearings into the wheel assembly and remade/re-machined all damaged components. Due to the damage on the end truck we had to then retrofit plates on either side where the axel went through. Following this we aligned and reassembled all the new custom parts bringing this crane back into service running smoothly.

Custom Testing Unit

Enlightened Material Handling was thrilled to have the opportunity to help out one of our highly valued customer's seeking a multi-voltage testing unit. We designed the unit with a massive emphasis on safety and ease of usage. This specific unit allows the customer to choose between the five available three phase voltages at the simple press of a button, it also allows them to change the phasing of the output with the easy flip of a switch. This project was a massive success and we're looking forward to future opportunities to build more testing units for various applications.

Crane Installation

A customer reached out to us requesting assistance with the installation and commissioning of a crane that they had sent out for refurbishment. We devised an installation plan utilizing the customer's tower crane on site to position the crane onto the runway. Following that we had a series of clearance and electrical challenges that had arisen from the refurbishment. After quickly providing solutions for all those issues we were able to efficiently deliver on turning this piece of equipment over to the customer ready for production.

Load Calibration

Completed a load calibration for a series of Kone Cranes. It's quite common for load displays on overhead cranes to lose accuracy over time which depending on the application the crane is being used for can cause quite a lot of headaches for production. Enlightened Material Handling proudly boasts the ability to calibrate all types of load displays accurately to keep operations running smoothly.

Jib Installation

Enlightened Material Handling received a request to install a new jib inside of a customer's facility. Our team quickly got to work engineering its installation and commissioning according to engineer-approved drawings. Within a short time frame we were able to deliver a well-functioning jib crane equipped with a manually operated trolley. Feedback from the employees operating the jib highlighted their satisfaction with this piece of equipment, deeming it ideal for their specific application.

Hoist Motor Rewinding

We assessed a customer's malfunctioning hoist motor to be failed motor winding after thorough troubleshooting. The only way to safely disconnect the motor from the hoist frame was to bring the entire hoist down to the ground. Using the customer's equipment we brought the hoist motor down to where we could properly disconnect it from the frame and got the motor windings rewound as quickly as possible. Just a couple days later we were able to reinstall this hoist and put the crane back into service running smoothly.
